Ehrman Mansion Open House
Walk through Pine Lodge, the mansion
built by Isaias Hellman in 1903. Experience the lavish lifestyle enjoyed
by his daughter, Florence Hellman Ehrman, and three generations of
family and friends who spent 60 summers at their private lakefront
retreat.

Historical Speakers
Join the great-great grand- daughter of Isaias
Hellman in the gazebo at noon for a preview of her book, Towers of
Gold: Isaias Hellman and the Creation of California. This
presentation by Frances Dinkelspiel is a must-see experience for
history enthusiasts.
Washo elders tell the stories of
the original residents of Lake Tahoe. The tales told by the elders
complete the history of Tahoe. |
Artists-in-Residence
Meet local artists, Bill Clausen, Andy Skaff,
and Cathy McClelland as they work down at the lakefront, painting images
of the estate, its buildings, boats, and animal life.

"General" William Phipps'
Cabin
The cabin of the West Shore’s first
homesteader from 1860 is open to the public. This is the one day of the
year that you can walk into his cabin and view his pioneer life.

Mountain Man
In the grassy area just west of the
cabin, another pioneer has set up camp. The dangers of life in the
wilderness require proficiency with a rifle which will be part of his
black gun powder demonstration. |

Vintage Car Display
In the 1930s some visitors made the trek
from San Francisco to Tahoe in luxurious automobiles. Select vintage
vehicles owned by Tahoe collectors are on display. |
Tahoe Maritime
Museum
The Tahoe Maritime Museum celebrates its
12th Living History Day in collaboration with Sugar Pine
Point State Park. The museum will add vintage wooden boats to the
existing boat houses and host a local author presentation.

Take a Hike
10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. -Meet at the
nature center for an easy, forty-minute hike to the site of what was the
world’s highest light house. This hike goes through the Z’berg Preserve
and returns along the lake. 11:30 a.m. – Leave from the nature center and follow the Path of
the Water Babies on this completely paved walk along the lake
front. This is an easy, thirty-minute stroll into Washoe history.

Part II
This documentary film is narrated by area
resident and Star Trek actor, Leonard Nimoy. The film features
spectacular views of Lake Tahoe and thorough coverage of Pine Lodge
history. Continuous showings are in the theater in the rear of the
nature center. Watch the events schedule for additional
special presentations by local authors in the theater.
